The Problem
Access to space is extremely expensive, so much so that little research can be undertaken without the financial support of the U.S. government. What success we have seen has been focused on science and military applications and tied directly to government funding. As a result, entrepreneurs have had little opportunity to experiment with potential space opportunities, particularly those that fall in the high risk, high payoff category.
